Nintendos lack of story continium
Rant by Mewd

-----------------------------

As of late something thats been bugging me to no end is nintendos lack of story continium, dispite their frequnt supply of seaquals they hardly ever seem to connect the stories of the plots carefully enough, sure it ususally takes a complete fan boy to spot some of these mistakes but some are so entirely blatent that you feel like nintendo dosen't even try to bring anything from past games. I've lost alot of faith in nintendo recently, the lack of story continium dose help along with the cancelation of Earthbound 64, The fact that dispite the creaters death the metroid series will continue but not in its orignal form, and the overly obsessive pokemon craze. Now I'd like to point out a few examples of nintendos lack of story continium; First off I managed to rent paper mario today, what can I say? It was severly disappointing, and I was EXPECTING it to be bad. But aside from that, I just felt like that nintendo didn't care anymore that alot of enemies were now considered allies... and that in the begining Goombario didn't even care that you slaughtered numbers of his race without a care, Peach's castle itself is completely differnt aside from the first room, which only resembles the one from Mario 64 slightly while the rest of the castle dosen't. Next on my annoyance list is the fact that the town outside of the caste is called "toad town" Not the mushroom kingdom, And all the mushroomers apparently have been toads all this time... Okay, that just about tears it, Either all this time Toad himself has been named after his own race, or nintendo just deicded to just assume the rest of the race is called that. Why? Next, Where is Kamak? When did this Kammy come? Its as if she took his place, in a completely unexplained way. And finnally the biggist thing in the game that bugs me so far is Star haven... its not that the idea isn't nice, but aren't star the most overused item in the Mario universe? Its almost a complete rip off of star road if you take the acceptian of the star rod... And why? Oh Why couldn't the stars defend themselves when bowser attacked when he had when they hold so much power? Finnally how was Bowser able to build a fortress under peach's castle without any one noticeing? If he dug under it wouldn't it of collasped eariler? Next, Star Fox... This is one of my favorite nintendo series but the two games in the series have no plot movement between both, if the first game were the prequal then why wasn't pigma there, and why was falco? Now, lets see, Metroid... One of my favorite games of all time is guilty of continium proplems, dispite the fact that the metroids were completely killed off in the second game, aside from a single one, and several of the bosses from the first come back, without any explanation. Why was there other metroids besides the baby that Samus spared? wouldn't there need to be atleast two unless they multiplied like bacteria? And if that was true why would they need a queen? Where were the space pirates or bandits that the mother brain was the boss of? Your not really a very good team of bandits when your made up of a few giant monster, that just seem to like sitting around in caves filled with monsters. Starting to get my point? Good, though I'm going to make you listen to me rant some more. Back to Mario, It seems like none of the games relate to one another besides the paper thin fact that Mario recues the princess constantly. The world seems to change completely with each game, for some reason. The koopa kids completely vanished without a trace, The monsters in sub 8 some how made it into the regular universe. In Mario RPG the lands end was apparently all the land there was... What about all those other places Mario has gone? Where are they? Why oh, why are stars so important? Why do they bestow power? Sure they made you invincible before but they just seemed to be figured sacrad as pokemon cards to fan boys, with no real power aside from the ever present need to collect. If bowser has such a powerful empire why didn't he ever simply start a all out attack? Its as if he dosen't take this serriosly. Isn't the mushroom kingdom supposed to be the only kingdom he dosen't own? Then why is there ususally so much land he has no power over? Why is Luigi more concerned over watching the house in paper mario then he is saveing the kingdom from economic failure? How are all the good guys able to instantly tell the good guys from bad at any time EXCEPT when they have very fake looking diguises of mushroom people? Okay thats enough, for my final words of this rant, that will be forever quoated by humanity... "Roast beef"
